  1. says "compiled" not "edited" because of the way GUILLOTINE was assembled by Matt & Miriam. Miriam knew Richard Kostelanetz from an event or class at RUTGERS' Douglas College Campus, & said that GUILLOTINE was inspired by his magazine ASSEMBLINGS. Contributors submitted 30 or 50 copies (i forget which) of their pages & then Miriam & Matt collated the pages, mixed their own poems & Hart Crane's Broken Tower into the mix, made covers, side-stapeld em & handed them out at the monthly (or were they every 2 weeks?) poetry readings at The Roxy Bar on French Street (early 80s). All contributions were accepted & included in GUILLOTINE, no one was rejected. I think they made two issues. I only have this one hear. I'll ask them when I see them again...

    1. just went & re-read the editors note (bin awhile)...30 copies & ROXY reading once a month at that point, forgot all about Dudley Randell's Revolutionary Concept. Miriam talked a lot about ASSEMBLINGS, & said it was also an inspiration for GUILLOTINE.
